چکیده

This paper explores the use of acoustics for the recovery of oil in oil-water emulsions. A series of experimental studies were conducted using acoustic standing waves in resonant cavities as means of trapping oil droplets and enhancing oil separation. Several cavity configurations were explored and the frequency range used was between 1 MHz-2 MHz. Oil-water emulsions studied were made using mineral oil and motor oil.

Effect of Salinity, pH, and Temperature on Stability of Gas Condensate in Water Emulsions Using Different Surfactants

Light hydrocarbons in water emulsions are formed in many gas refinery wastewaters, and its stability depends on some parameters such as temperature, pH and salinity. In this study, different surfactants have been used to prepare gas condensates in water emulsion along with four surfactant kinds namely, Span 80, Tween 80, CTAB, SDS and Span 80 and Tween 80 mixture. For this purpose,...

Characterization of Kaolinite ζ Potential for Interpretation of Wettability Alteration in Diluted Bitumen Emulsion Separation

Initial processing of Athabasca oil sands obtained from the water-based extraction process yields stable water-in-bitumen emulsions. When the bitumen is diluted with naphtha to reduce its viscosity and density, partial separation can be obtained with a suitable demulsifier. However, a “rag layer” forms between the clean oil and free water layers. The partially oil-wet kaolinite in clay solids ca...

Double emulsion templated microcapsules with single hollow cavities and thickness-controllable shells.

A novel form of microcapsules, which possess single hollow cavities and thickness-controllable shells, were prepared by a two-step emulsification, emulsion ripening, and suspension polymerization. Parameters on morphology control of water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) emulsion globules were particularly investigated in this study, and a universal strategy to prepare single-core water-in-oil (W/O) glo...

Effect of Dispersed Phase Volume Fraction on Physical Stability of Oil-in-Water Emulsion in The Presence of Gum Tragacanth

Background: The dispersed phase volume fraction plays key role in oil-in-water emulsion stability by different mechanisms like partial flocculation, depletion flocculation and bridging flocculation. Since the mentioned mechanism is affected by emulsifier concentration presented in system, the major aim of this study was to investigate the effect of dispersed phase volume fraction on physical st...

Enhanced-throughput production of polymersomes using a parallelized capillary microfluidic device

We report a parallelized capillary microfluidic device for enhanced production rate of monodisperse polymersomes. This device consists of four independent capillary microfluidic devices, operated in parallel; each device produces monodisperse water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) doubleemulsion drops through a single-step emulsification. During generation of the double-emulsion drops, the innermost wat...
